Top 10 Poker Podcasts (Updated 2022)

In recent years, podcasts have become a hit, and you can find plenty of them in any niche. Poker is no exception, and there are regular podcasts that provide valuable content. Whether it is about strategy, news or anything else, you can learn a lot and have fun at the same time. Many of them will also host special tournaments and promotions, which adds extra value to the whole experience.

So, if you’ve been looking for the best poker podcasts around, here is my top-10 list!

The Red Chip Poker Podcast

The Red Chip Poker podcast brings you mini-coaching sessions & interviews with interesting people in the poker industry. Boasting over 3.5 million downloads, this show has grown in popularity over the years. Season 5 returns with host James “SplitSuit” Sweeney discussing high-level strategy while previous seasons varied between interviews, guest coaches, and even other hosts.

The RCP podcast is invaluable to beginners and experienced players alike. The coaches on the show try to cover various games, formats, and limits. Chances are you will be able to find expert advice for your particular game. Many people have benefited greatly from this podcast and have brought their game to the next level.

The good news is that the focus is not solely on online poker. You can receive tons of advice for live poker strategy too. All of the RCP podcast episodes are available in the archive, so you can find relevant shows from the past. I highly recommend checking it out:

Thinking Poker Podcast

The Thinking Poker podcast is released on a weekly basis and is one of the most balanced shows online. It is a mix of strategies, lifestyle, and news about exciting events in the poker scene hosted by Andrew “Foucault” Brokos & Nate Meyvis.

You will often find exclusive interviews with poker celebrities and learn a thing or two about their careers. The podcast digs deep into the life of a poker player and brings you some details from behind the scenes. You will get to know some hidden aspects of the game from people who have first-hand experience.

Moreover, Andrew and Nate occasionally review poker books to give you a source of useful information. The best thing is that the team brings some next-level strategy to the table but manages to explain it in a simple way. Sometimes, they even review specific poker hands to give you a better illustration of certain situations.

Chasing Poker Greatness

Chasing Poker Greatness is a weekly poker podcast hosted by Brad Wilson that takes you behind-the-scenes with some of the most legendary figures in the game (including yours truly, James “Splitsuit Sweeney”).

The journey from couch to final table is not something that happens overnight and the years world-class crushers spend forging their otherworldly skills often go overlooked when you see them on TV competing for millions of dollars.

Those are the gaps Chasing Poker Greatness aims to fill.

How did players like Dan “Jungleman” Cates, Fedor Holz, Darren Elias, and Jon “Apestyles” Van Fleet achieve their legendary status and how do they continue to improve in the here and now on a day-to-day basis? What are the struggles they have overcome that almost broke them and what wisdom did they gain in the process?

Chasing Poker Greatness aims to share with you those invaluable lessons and so much more!

Smart Poker Study Podcast

Sky Matsuhashi may not be known for having 6 WPT bracelets or playing nosebleed cash games, but he should be known for being one of the hardest workers on the other side of the felt. Sky, host of the Smart Poker Study podcast, puts out a tremendous number of new and exciting episodes that run the gamut from interviews to teaching you the ins-and-outs of poker HUDs.

With over 250 episodes, including an interview with your very own James “SplitSuit” Sweeney, you’ll improve your game brick-by-brick with strategy content that’s perfect for beginner players.

The Rake Podcast

The Rake is a poker podcast from Phil Galfond’s training site, Run It Once. Hosted by Jamie Kerstetter and Marle Cordeiro, this show keeps you up to date on all the poker gossip and news you may have missed.

New episodes come out each week and cover everything from scandals to the Galfond challenge. Don’t expect hardcore strategy or GTO insights – but do expect to be heartily entertained. And if you prefer watching over listening, be sure to check out The Rake Poker Podcast Playlist on YouTube.

Poker On The Mind Podcast

The Poker On The Mind podcast, hosted by two Red Chip Poker coaches Dr. Tricia Cardner & Gareth James, is the perfect mix between strategy and the mental game of poker. As edges in higher stakes games continue to get razor-thin, the benefits of a stronger mental game become more and more important. So tune in if you know your poker mindset could use a little upgrade!

POTM releases a new episode every other week, and the show stays fresh with updates from the hosts on their lives & poker play along with interviews from other players. If you play tournaments at all, I highly recommend you add this show to your listening list.

Did you know that Dr. Cardner also created an entire mental game course with SplitSuit? Check out The Mental Advantage and dive in today.

DAT Poker Podcast

DAT Poker Podcast is a three-host show featuring Daniel Negreanu, Adam Schwartz, and Terrence Chan (the show title takes the first letter from each of their first names). Each week, these three discuss recent poker news, opinions on the industry, and delve into strategic content. There is also the occasional interview from poker pros to keep the rotation interesting.

One of my favorite show types (although there aren’t many of them yet) is the voicemail questions where players like you call in, leave their question via voicemail, and the hosts answer questions on the fly. Episodes like this offer a variety of questions, answers, and a great off-the-cuff dynamic. Check out episode #58 for a prime example!

Just Hands Poker Podcast

The Just Hands Poker Podcast focuses on one thing: analyzing poker hands. Hosted by Jackson Laskey and Zach Resnick, this show breaks apart hand histories in a way that every serious player will appreciate. Many of the hands are from live games so you won’t get bogged down in HUD stats or other extraneous information. Following along with poker hands can be tricky at first in an audio-only format, you will quickly get used to visualizing and keeping the hand in your head while listening.

There are over 150 episodes currently with an average runtime of 45 minutes/episode. So if you’re in the market for a podcast that breaks down hand after hand – subscribe to the show via Spotify.

Ante Up Magazine Podcast

The podcast of the Ante Up Magazine podcast is the oldest one out there. It was introduced in 2005 and been around since then. If you want to find a show from that time, you can easily look it up in the archive. As you can imagine, there is a good reason why it survived for so long. There is no fixed schedule, but the podcast runs at least a couple times per month and has not missed a week so far. Current hosts Chris Cosenza and Scott Long do everything you can think of to make this show interesting and beneficial.

Thanks to the vast experience, the Ante Up Podcast seems to have found the winning formula. The podcast provides all kinds of content: news, strategies, lifestyle, coverage of big live tournaments and anything poker-related. There are a couple of different segments for each show. They are called ‘O’Mally’s Move‘, ‘Hand of the Week‘ and ‘Listener’s Spotlight‘. As the latter suggests, you can actively participate in the podcast, which is another advantage of the Ante Up show.

All of the content comes with a pinch of humor, which makes the whole experience even more entertaining and worth checking out. One of the biggest testimonies is the Bluff Magazine’s Readers Choice Award for The Best Poker Podcast.

Older Poker Podcasts

There are podcasts that are no longer being updated that are still 100% worth a listen. These shows won’t cover the latest poker news, but they still have tons of gems & interviews!

TwoPlusTwo Pokercast

*New episodes ended in 2018*

Probably every poker player out there has heard of TwoPlusTwo. It is the largest online community that covers all aspects of the game. From online rooms, promotions and news, to live poker, lifestyle, and everything else. It is no surprise to see their own Pokercast in this list. It has been around since 2008 and has run since then.

It is hard to highlight one particular aspect of poker that dominates the TwoPlusTwo Pokercast. The guys try to include all things. You will find many strategy discussions, interviews with poker players, and overviews of big online and live poker tournaments.

Since many of the best players in the world are part of the TwoPlusTwo community, you will often see guest hosts of the highest caliber. It is a great way to get their thoughts on the main poker events. Moreover, sometimes you will hear unique stories, crazy prop bets and jokes that will brighten up your day.

The Poker Life Podcast

As the name suggests, the Poker Life podcast mainly focuses on the lifestyle of poker players and all of its aspects. Joey Ingram who is a poker player himself hosts this show. The guy is often visited by some of the most famous celebrities in the poker world and discusses various topics with them.

Other podcasts can hardly match the list of guests that Joey brings to his show. The likes of Jason Koon, Phil Helmuth, Doug Polk, and Fedor Holz are some of the guests of the show in May 2017 alone! Joey Ingram has interviewed most poker superstars at some point, and you could expect more of the same in the future.

However, there is no specific schedule, so you will find a new episode whenever Joey manages to get someone to join. To be honest, he succeeds often enough, and sometimes you can hear two editions within the same day.

The Poker Life Podcast covers both live and online poker. You will learn a lot about different aspects of the lives of famous poker players. You will also have a chance to hear how they prepare for tournaments, how they improve their skills, how their daily routines look and much more.

One of the best things of this particular podcast is that you will hear wild stories about Vegas directly from people involved. It is truly an amazing experience, and there is probably enough material to make a movie, so you are guaranteed to have a good time.

Overall, podcasts are a great way to get some poker tips while on the go. And with the podcast market growing each year, don’t be surprised if new additions add upon these great shows with unique segments and viewpoints. That being said, these are only my favorite 5 podcasts – not a comprehensive list. So if I missed any of your favorites, feel free to tweet at me @SplitSuit and let me know which ones you love so I can add them into my listening rotation ♥

Also, if you really enjoy podcasts, you are sure to love high-quality audiobooks too. Here is my list of the best poker audiobooks that you should add to your library.
